Premier League giants Liverpool have lined up Senegal youngster Assane Diao as a potential replacement for Egypt star Mohammed Salah.
The former Chelsea and Roma star has been linked with a move away from Liverpool as he nears the expiration of his contract.
Salah’s current contract with the Reds expires in June, sparking speculations about his future at the club. Despite his impressive performance, the former African Footballer of the Year has yet to sign a new contract.
Liverpool are currently seeking for a new winger ahead of the summer and has reportedly set sights on Assane Diao, who plies his trade for Como in Italy.
According to reports, Liverpool could sign a winger at all cost even if Mohammed Salah stays at the club. The move is to a replacement ready for Salah’s future departure.
Assane Diao impressed in the La Liga last season with Real Betis. He was a target for Brentford, before ultimately signing for Como for a club-record fee of €12m (£10m, $12.5m) last summer.
Diao has got off to a fantastic start in Italy under new manager Cesc Fabregas, bagging five goals in eight Serie A appearances so far.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are set to rival Liverpool for the acquisition of Assane Diao, as they seeks for a replacement for Miguel Almiron.
