Premier League giants Liverpool are planning for life without France international of Malian descent Ibrahima Konate as pushes for a move away from the club.

Konaté’s current contract with the Premier League giants runs until summer 2026, with the in-demand defender yet to sign a deal with the Reds.

Having rejected a third contract extension offer from Liverpool in recent weeks, the 26-year-old could switch to the Spanish giants as a free agent next summer.

However, Liverpool is said to be preparing for a situation where Konate will leave as a free agent, with the club actively searching for a suitable replacement.

In the event of Konate’s possible departure, the Premier League champions have zeroed in on Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer as a potential replacement.

The 28-year-old Brazilian was close to leaving the Bianconeri this summer, but the move ultimately fell through.

Arne Slot’s main defensive target remains Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi, with reports suggesting Liverpool won’t push for his signature this winter. However, Bremer’s name is still firmly in the mix.

Konate joined Liverpool in July 2021 from German outfit RB Leipzig and has since established himself as a key member of the team.

This season, Konate has featured in all three matches in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign despite dragging his feet to sign a new deal.
