Liverpool are making a serious push to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, positioning themselves as frontrunners in the race for the highly-rated defender.
Guehi, who has also drawn interest from Newcastle United and former club Chelsea, is preparing for a summer exit from Selhurst Park. Newcastle made multiple attempts to sign him last year, only to see their offers rejected, and while they have continued to monitor his situation, they are now stepping back from the chase.
The Mirror reports that Liverpool have taken the lead in negotiations, with the England international favouring a move to Anfield. He is seen as a potential successor to club captain Virgil van Dijk, whose long-term future remains uncertain.
Guehi remains under contract with Palace until 2026, but with strong interest from one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, his departure seems increasingly likely.
The 24-year-old earned his first England call-up in March 2022 and made his senior debut in a 2–1 win over Switzerland at Wembley Stadium.
