Liverpool set to pay £106m for Bradley Barcola as five-year deal moves closer

Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola in a deal worth an initial £106m, with a further £17m available in add-ons.

The 23-year-old France international is expected to sign a five-year contract with Liverpool and undergo a medical within the next 24 hours.

The agreement, reported by The Athletic, represents a potential total outlay of £123m for the English club as they move to strengthen their attack during the current transfer window.

Liverpool identified Barcola as a leading candidate to help replace Mohamed Salah, who left the club at the end of last season. Barcola had been determined to move to Anfield despite having two years remaining on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Negotiations accelerated after important discussions were held on Tuesday to clarify all the remaining details of the proposed transfer. Liverpool’s side of the talks was led by sporting director Richard Hughes, chief executive Billy Hogan and Fenway Sports Group chairman Mike Gordon, while Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi represented the French club.

Barcola is expected to join a Liverpool side managed by Andoni Iraola once the transfer is completed. His medical is scheduled to take place shortly, with the formal contract to follow if no problems are found.

The forward was a regular part of Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain team last season. He made 49 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists, despite facing competition for places from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.

Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended both their Ligue 1 title and their UEFA Champions League crown during that campaign.

Barcola’s absence from the Paris Saint-Germain squad for the opening Ligue 1 match of the 2026-27 season against Rennes on Sunday further increased speculation about his future. He was also left out of the squad for Friday evening’s 2-2 draw with Lille.

The forward first established himself in the Paris Saint-Germain first team during the 2021-22 season. Across 152 appearances, he has scored 39 goals and created 37 more.

A graduate of the Lyon academy, Barcola also played a significant role for France at the World Cup this summer. He appeared in all eight of the national team’s matches and scored three goals.

His anticipated move would bring an end to his time at Paris Saint-Germain and give Liverpool a major attacking option as they seek to replace the contribution made by Salah. The proposed agreement includes a substantial guaranteed fee, while the additional £17m will depend on the conditions attached to the transfer being met.
