Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly preparing to make a significant bid for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lookman, who is set to depart Atalanta at the end of the season has attracted several interest from clubs.
The African Footballer of the Year holder has reportedly requested to be sold to the Premier League in the next window.
Atalanta agreed to allow Lookman leave at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. However, his departure intensified after a public row with his manager Gian Piero Gasperini following the club’s elimination from the Champions League.
According to reports, Liverpool are desperate to lure the Nigeria international to the Anfield and are willing to splash ready €45million (£37m, $47m) to sign him in the simmer.
Liverpool sees the 27-year-old as an attractive option to reinforce the competition in their attacking line.
However, Liverpool will face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, who are also interested in Lookman.
The African Footballer of the Year is currently considered as one of the most exciting players in European football.
He scored a legendary hat-trick for Atalanta in the 3-0 Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen last season.
He has continued his brilliant form into the 2024/2025 season, scoring 17 goals and delivering seven assists in all competitions.
