Premier League giants Liverpool is eager to finalize a move for Sweden international of Eritrean descent Alexander Isak before the closure of the summer transfer window.
Isak has been pushing for a move away from Newcastle United in the current transfer window, with Liverpool expressing keen interest in the attacker.
The Magpies’ effort to renew Isak’s contract has proven futile as the forward insists on a departure.
Newcastle United have now left the door open for the transfer of Isak following the arrival of Stuttgart forward, Nick Woltemade, with Liverpool expected to make a final push for the forward.
The Premier League giants will make a final attempt to sign Isak for a transfer fee worth £130 million. With the transfer window closing on Monday, September 1, Liverpool are said to be doing everything possible to snap up the forward as quickly as possible.
The terms of Isak’s personal contract have long been agreed, however, both clubs will have to agree on a fee before the move will be sanctioned.
Isak joined Newcastle United in summer 2022 and has since established himself as a key member of the team, racking up important goals for the club. His current contract is expected to expire in summer 2028.
Since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad, Isak has racked up 62 goals and provided 11 assists in 109 appearances.
