Liverpool set to battle Manchester United for Cameroon midfielder Carlos Baleba

Premier League giants Liverpool have expressed firm interest to sign Cameroonian international Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Baleba was a transfer target for fellow Premier League club, Manchester United during the summer transfer window, but the move fell through.

The promising Cameroonian midfielder emerged as a transfer target for several clubs in the summer, having showcased glimpses of good performance last season.

Manchester United now faces a daunting task in their pursuit of Baleba, with Liverpool expressing interest in the midfielder.

Liverpool’s quest of signing the Cameroonian midfielder will not come on a silver platter, with Manchester United prioritizing Baleba as the perfect player to strengthen their midfield

Despite unsuccessful attempts to land the player in the summer and Baleba’s slow start to the season, Ruben Amorim and his scouting team believe he’s the perfect fit for their 3-4-3 system.

Meanwhile, Liverpool, who have shown keen interest in the midfielder and are closely tracking his development this season, are prepared to make their move.

Brighton are bent on holding firm on the midfielder, with the club said not to be interested in cashing in on the Cameroonian youngster.

The Seagulls would only consider the transfer of Baleba in excess of £100 million. His current contract with Brighton will expire in summer 2028, with an option for a one-year extension, putting the Seagulls in a strong position at the negotiating table.
