Liverpool have joined the race for the acquisition of France international of Cameroonian descent Hugo Ekitike as the summer transfer window approaches.
The reigning Premier League champions are keen to bolster their squad for the new campaign, with Ekitike emerging as one of the top targets.
Ekitike joined Frankfurt on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2024 before the Bundesliga outfit triggered the option to clause in the contract to make the deal permanent.
Since joining the German club, Ekitike’s status has exploded, and he has quickly become one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.
This season, the highly-rated attacker recorded 15 goals and 8 assists in the league as he helped his side to a third-place finish.
With Chelsea and Liverpool expressing interest, the Premier League clubs are expected to battle it out for the services of the forward.
Per reports, talks have already taken place, but Frankfurt have not yet received an offer from any team for the striker.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club is demanding at least €100 million to sanction a move for the attacker, a healthy profit on the €35 million they spent to sign him.
