Liverpool see bid rejected for Gambian star Yankuba Minteh

Liverpool have seen a £50 million offer for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh rejected as they intensify their search for attacking reinforcements following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

According to the BBC, Brighton turned down the Reds’ proposal for the 22-year-old Gambia international, who has emerged as one of the options being considered by Liverpool to bolster their wide attacking ranks.

Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle United for £30 million in 2024 and has since made 73 appearances for the Seagulls, contributing 10 goals and nine assists. His pace, direct running and ability to operate predominantly from the right flank have made him an attractive option for Liverpool as they look to reshape their attack.

The winger, however, is currently recovering from a leg injury sustained during Brighton’s clash with Roma earlier this month, adding another consideration to any potential move.

Liverpool weigh up attacking alternatives

Liverpool’s pursuit of Minteh comes as the club continues to assess several targets capable of helping fill the void created by Salah’s exit.

The Egyptian forward’s departure has left Liverpool with a major attacking gap, particularly on the right side, where he was a key figure for the club for several seasons.

Minteh’s age and Premier League experience appear to fit Liverpool’s recruitment strategy, but Brighton’s decision to reject the opening offer means the Reds could have to return with an improved proposal if they are determined to land the winger.

The Seagulls’ stance could also encourage Liverpool to explore alternatives as the club seeks to strengthen Arne Slot’s attacking options before the new campaign gathers pace.

Barcola remains Liverpool’s dream target

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola remains another major target for Liverpool, although negotiations for the France international could prove considerably more difficult.

PSG are reportedly seeking around £145 million for Barcola, while Liverpool value the 23-year-old closer to £100 million.

That significant gap in valuation could force the Reds to reconsider their approach, with Minteh potentially representing a more attainable alternative.

Liverpool’s interest in both players underlines the scale of their efforts to rebuild their attack, with the club now weighing up whether to increase their offer for Minteh or pursue other options in the transfer market.
