Liverpool are reportedly not prepared to part ways with French defender of Malian descent Ibrahima Konate.

According to sources, the Reds on Tuesday morning presented a new contract extension offer to the player’s representative.

The 26-year-old, whose current deal runs until 2026, has attracted strong interest from Real Madrid, with reports suggesting the Spanish giants are already in advanced talks.

In response, Liverpool are keen to tie him down and ward off any potential move abroad.

Konaté joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in 2021 and has since established himself as a vital presence in defense. Known for his pace, physical strength, and composure on the ball, he has become a trusted figure under both Jürgen Klopp and current manager Arne Slot, with whom he celebrated a Premier League title.

While the terms of Liverpool’s new proposal remain undisclosed, the offer highlights the club’s determination to retain one of its defensive cornerstones amid mounting European interest.

It is unclear if Konate will accept the new offer or if the player will take his chances on a potential move to Real Madrid next year.
