Liverpool are pushing to secure the signing of Swedish forward of Eritrean descent Alexander Isak before the start of the 2025/26 football season.
According to sources, the Reds are planning to present a second bid of £140 million to Newcastle United to sign the highly-rated striker.
The improved offer includes an £80 million upfront payment, a further £50 million due next year, and £10 million in performance-based bonuses.
Newcastle turned down Liverpool’s first bid of £120 million, which did not include any add-ons, and have made it clear they will not be pressured into a quick sale.
The Magpies have instructed Isak to return to training as they prepare for pre-season friendlies against Espanyol on August 8 and Atletico Madrid on August 9.
Despite Newcastle’s stance, Isak’s growing desire to leave has prompted the club to begin identifying potential replacements.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are believed to have already reached personal terms with the 24-year-old striker, who is expected to sign a contract running until 2031 if the transfer goes through.
The next couple of weeks will be key in determining if Isak will move or stay at Newcastle United.
