Liverpool are preparing a significant offer for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as they look to reinforce their defence ahead of the new season.
Guehi, who was born in Abidjan, has emerged as a top target for manager Arne Slot, with the potential exits of Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konaté creating uncertainty at the back.
Quansah is expected to join Bayer Leverkusen, while contract talks with Konaté have reportedly stalled, prompting concerns that the French international could depart Anfield.
The 24-year-old Guehi has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dependable centre-backs since arriving from Swansea City in 2021.
His consistent performances, including a pivotal role in Palace’s FA Cup success, have drawn attention from several top clubs. He has previously reiterated his loyalty to Palace, stating, “This football club has given me a lot. I’m still under contract… my focus is always at this football club.”
However, Liverpool believe he is the ideal long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk and a key component of their defensive rebuild, which already includes Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
Guehi is expected to slot directly into the starting XI should Konaté leave.
Palace chairman Steve Parish has made it clear that any club wishing to sign Guehi must meet a high valuation.
“If someone else wants to have him, they need to make it really difficult for us. He’s a generational talent,” he stated.
