Premier League outfit Liverpool are now in the race to sign France international of DR Congo descent Christopher Nkunku.
The Reds are seeking to strengthen their squad as the team gear up for the new campaign, having emerged as champions in the soon end season.
Nkunku has set sights on leaving Chelsea at the end of the season despite having a running contract with the London-based club. His current contract with the Blues is expected to elapse in the summer of 2029.
Having struggled to settle at Chelsea, the former Leipzig attacking midfielder has been tipped to depart the club in search of a regular playing time.
The 27-year-old is part of a shortlist made by Liverpool to inject fresh blood – and versatile players – into their title-winning squad. The Reds have reportedly already initiated talks with Nkunku’s camp.
Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in Nkunku, with some of their attacking players expected to leave this summer.
The France international is thought to prioritize joining a club that features in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich remain keen in the race to sign the former PSG Academy product as the Rekordmeister are yet to renew Leroy Sané’s contract. Both Newcastle and Bayern Munich have reportedly been informed of the conditions of the deal to sign Nkunku.
