Premier League giants Liverpool have joined the race for the services of Franco-Algerian attacker Rayan Cherki.
The 21-year-old sensational winger is set to depart his formative club this summer despite having a running contract until 2026.
Cherki has emerged as a top transfer target for several clubs following an outstanding performance in the recently concluded campaign. He racked up 12 goals and delivered 20 assists in 44 appearances across competitions.
His outstanding performance did not go unnoticed, attracting interested from Manchester City, Dortmund and others.
However, Liverpool have emerged as the latest club to have expressed interest in the talented winger as they seeks to sign a creative attacker to their ranks.
Arne Slot, Liverpool manager has already held talks with Cherki, having cut short his holidays for preliminary discussion with the in-demand forward.
The Reds are keeping their options open this summer, as they push to secure the services of their targets.
Liverpool is conducting due diligence on various options and is not focusing solely on one player. Cherki is considered a much more affordable option than Florian Wirtz, although earlier claims of a €22.5 million release clause have been deemed inaccurate.
It is understood that Lyon is seeking a significantly higher fee, despite Cherki approaching the final year of his contract.
