Liverpool have reportedly intensified their pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman as they prepare for possible changes in their attacking lineup.
The 27-year-old Nigerian international has caught the attention of the Premier League club, with reports suggesting he could replace either Mohamed Salah or Darwin Nunez.
Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, and his future remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Nunez has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Nassr showing interest in the past. Liverpool blocked a transfer in January, but clubs in Saudi Arabia could return with a fresh offer in the summer.
Lookman has a verbal agreement with Atalanta’s owners, the Percassi family, allowing him to leave at the end of the season.
The agreement was made after the club lost Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus last year. Atalanta convinced Lookman to stay for another season to avoid losing two key players in the same transfer window.
Alongside Liverpool, Juventus are also reportedly keeping tabs on Lookman. The Italian giants could compete for his signature in the summer as they look to strengthen their attack.
Despite growing interest, Lookman remains committed to Atalanta for the time being. He has emphasized his focus on finishing the season strongly as the club aims for Champions League qualification and possibly a Serie A title challenge.
