Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal are set to go head-to-head for France international of Cameroonian descent Hugo Ekitiké as the summer transfer window approaches.
The 22-year-old has become a transfer target for several top clubs in Europe due to his outstanding performance for Frankfurt this season.
Ekitike has rediscovered his form at Frankfurt following a difficult spell with Paris Saint Germain. He joined the Bundesliga club, initially on loan before making the move permanent last summer for just over €16m.
In his first full season, the French-Cameroonian striker has excelled, scoring 22 goals and delivering 11 assists in 46 appearances across competitions.
The forward has caught the attention of several clubs, who are determined to snatch him in the summer. The Premier League club are eager to sign a striker in the summer, and the former PSG forward has been earmarked as a priority target.
With Omar Marmoush departing for Manchester City, the Frenchman has also had to adapt to leading the line single-handedly and has adapted to this transition well.
Frankfurt are on course to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season and will receive a financial boost. As a result, the club do not need to sell and are set to demand a hefty fee for Ekitiké.
The Bundesliga club will only consider bids in the region of €100m for the former France youth international.
