Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has praised Chuba Akpom for his adaptability, highlighting the impact the forward has made since joining the club.
Akpom, who arrived from Ajax during the January transfer window, has wasted no time settling in, scoring twice in as many Ligue 1 appearances.
His ability to play in multiple positions has impressed both his teammates and coaching staff.
Speaking to La Voix du Nord, Chevalier emphasized the value Akpom brings to Lille’s attacking options.
“I’m happy for him [Chuba Akpom]. He plays the same position as Jonathan, but with a different profile,” Chevalier said.
“He can even play on the wing. He’s faster, more inclined to dribble and has a certain impact, while Jonas [David] is more of a positional type.”
Chevalier also highlighted how Akpom provides Lille with a different attacking dimension, particularly in aerial duels and hold-up play.
“He will have a slightly shifted role. He has a certain power and offers an alternative on long balls, which was lacking in our squad. We really feel his added value,” he added.
Akpom’s strong start at Lille suggests he could play a crucial role for the club as they push for a strong finish in Ligue 1.
