Lille wonderkid Ayoub Bouadi undecided on international future amid Morocco-France tug-of-war
Lille midfielder Ayoub Bouadi is in no hurry to decide his international future as Morocco and France battle for his services.
The 18-year-old Lille midfielder, widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in French football, addressed the issue while on international duty with France’s U-21 side. Bouadi is currently preparing for their clash against Iceland national football team and recently captained the team in a match against Luxembourg national football team—a sign of his growing influence and leadership.
Speaking at a press conference, Bouadi made his stance clear: patience over pressure.
“I haven’t made my decision yet. The national team is a very important choice in any player’s career. I prefer to give myself time, and I don’t want to rush,” he said.
Despite increasing speculation, particularly with the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Bouadi dismissed the idea of setting a deadline for his choice.
“There is no set timeframe. It’s a personal decision that comes from the heart. My family and these close to me will also play a role. I don’t feel any pressure,” he added.
Bouadi’s rapid rise at Lille has not gone unnoticed. His composure on the ball, tactical awareness, and maturity beyond his years have drawn attention from both the French Football Federation and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, each eager to secure his international allegiance.
For Morocco, landing Bouadi would represent another major success in attracting dual-nationality talents, continuing a strategy that has strengthened the Atlas Lions in recent years. For France, keeping him would mean retaining yet another elite prospect within their already talent-rich system.
As the debate intensifies, Bouadi remains calm and focused on his development—letting his performances speak while the decision over his international future waits for the right moment.
