French-Guinean defender will not be available for Lille when they take on Marseille in the French Ligue 1 this weekend.
The 24-year-old solid defender is suspended following his sending off in their game against Angers last weekend. He is expected to serve a two-game match ban, ruling him out of the upcoming clash on Sunday.
Diakité has been one of the most consistent players for this Lille side having missed only one game (the 2-1 defeat to Le Havre AC in February) across the entire season.
However, Lille will have to negotiate for points against Marseille without their influential Guinean defender at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The upcoming clash is well-poised, with Lille able to leapfrog their visitors with a victory and claim second place in the league ahead of the final two matches of the campaign. A defeat for either side could see them slip out of automatic qualification spots for next season’s Champions League.
Diakité has made 30 appearances in the Ligue 1 this season, scoring four goals and providing an assist.
