Monaco Steps Up Pursuit of Adama Traoré After Stellar U20 World Cup
AS Monaco is intensifying efforts to sign Adama Traoré, the talented Malian midfielder who was named Best Player of the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup. Following an impressive tournament with Mali, Traoré has become one of Europe’s hottest young prospects.
According to L’Équipe, Monaco initially offered €9 million to Lille, but the bid was swiftly turned down. Not giving up, the Principality club returned with an improved proposal of €12 million, which LOSC again rejected. However, negotiations remain open, with Lille reportedly interested in a loan move for Mounir Obbadi as part of the deal and seeking a higher fee for their prized asset.
Despite rejecting the latest bid, Lille is not opposed to Traoré’s departure and appears ready to negotiate under the right terms.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation closely, knowing the Malian’s stock is rising rapidly. At just 20 years old, Traoré has the attention of Europe’s elite—and Monaco seems determined to land him first.
