Lille midfielder Ayoub Bouaddi proud of Morocco switch ahead of 2026 World Cup
Morocco new boy Ayoub Bouaddi has expressed his excitement and pride after officially joining the Atlas Lions, stressing decision to represent Morocco was the right choice.
The promising midfielder, who plies his trade for Lille recently earned his maiden call up ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament.
He has since joined the Atlas Lions camp at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Morocco, where the squad is currently preparing for the global showpiece.
Speaking to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s media channel, Bouaddi revealed assurance from both technical team and the federation of Morocco being the right choice for him, a message he says has now been fully validated by his experience in camp.
“The coach and the president told me from the beginning that choosing Morocco was the right decision. And reality has confirmed it for me, as I’ve received a fantastic welcome since my arrival,” he said.
The Lille midfielder also praised the high-performance environment within the national team setup, highlighting the world-class infrastructure and positive atmosphere among the players.
“Everything here is perfect. The infrastructure is top-notch, the atmosphere within the team is excellent, and I’m very proud of this choice,” Bouaddi added.
He further commended the quality of the squad, noting the presence of several top-level players and expressing hope that the team can achieve major success in upcoming competitions.
“The Mohammed VI Complex has some of the best facilities in the world. Everyone knows the value of this group. There are some truly great players, and I hope we achieve great things in the future,” he said.
Bouaddi also took time to thank Moroccan supporters for their warm reception, promising full commitment to the national team project moving forward.
The training camp itself remains highly focused, with players undergoing intense tactical and technical sessions under the supervision of coach Mohamed Wahbi. The emphasis has been placed on cohesion, structure, and preparing the squad for competitive fixtures ahead of the World Cup.
The camp is scheduled to continue until May 26, when Morocco will play a closed-door friendly match before the final squad list is announced.
