Rio Mavuba Open to Playing Abroad Again Amid World Cup Dreams
Lille captain Rio Mavuba, at 30 years old, has expressed his desire to explore playing abroad once again, with Italy and England among his potential destinations. The Franco-Congolese midfielder, who has been a key player for Lille, feels comfortable at the club but isn’t ruling out a move as he looks ahead to the future.
In an interview with RMC this Wednesday, Mavuba shared his aspirations: “Obviously, I want to try playing abroad again. Spain, on a human level, was a good experience. I would like to (play abroad again). Italy and England, I would also like that.”
Mavuba previously had a stint in Spain with Villarreal between 2006 and 2007, and with his career still thriving, the prospect of experiencing new challenges in top leagues like Serie A or the Premier League appeals to him.
At the same time, the veteran midfielder remains hopeful of being selected for the French national team for the upcoming World Cup, adding another layer to what could be an exciting chapter in his career.
