Divock Origi has been a revelation since his surprise inclusion in Marc Wilmots’ World Cup squad for Belgium. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, of Kenyan origin, has had an impressive season with Lille, earning a spot among the 23 Belgians heading to Brazil for the World Cup.
Having been with Lille since 2010, Origi has steadily risen through the ranks and established himself in the first team. Despite his young age, he has shown maturity and skill on the pitch, catching the eye of many with his performances.
Origi has expressed his desire to continue his development with Lille for the next two years before considering a move to the Premier League. He admires fellow Belgians like Lukaku, Benteke, and Hazard who have succeeded in the English top flight and believes the league could be a good fit for his playing style.
“I always said that I felt good in Lille and that I could still learn a lot because I am still young. I’m giving myself two more years to progress in my club before taking a new step in my career. I would like to join the Premier League like Lukaku, Benteke, and Hazard. I think this championship can suit me but for now, I am focusing on the Devils and Lille,” said Origi.
