At 36, Portuguese coach Helena Costa will lead Clermont Foot 63 next season, marking the first time a woman will coach a professional men’s team in France.
Antoine Kombouaré expressed enthusiasm about this historic appointment, highlighting the positive impact it could have. “If it’s a first, I say so much the better,” said the Lens coach. “Michy (president of Clermont) knows what he is doing. He had Michel Der Zakarian before, then he had Régis Brouard. People who have always done very good work. I trust him.” Kombouaré sees this as an opportunity for growth and learning. “That’s good, it will open things up and it will teach us a lot of things too,” he added.
