Sochaux hosted Olympique Lyonnais in the opening match of the second day of Ligue 1, ending in a 3-1 victory for the Rhodaniens. Despite dominating in the first 20 minutes and even opening the score with a penalty converted by Ryad Boudebouz in the fourth minute, Sochaux faced a defeat. After two days, Sochaux has one point and provisionally occupies twelfth place in Ligue 1.
Ryad Boudebouz expressed his disappointment with the defeat against Les Gones and commented on the match. He said, “Even though we were warned, we were too kind this evening by making too many errors on Lyon’s goals. We give them the third goal. We had difficulty tightening our lines. We will have to progress in this area because we cannot let Gourcuff and Grenier wander around like that in the midfield. It also took us a half to block Malbranque. It’s a shame because there was something to be done. However, we started this match well by quickly opening the score but unfortunately Lyon’s equalizer turned our heads upside down. We also need to progress offensively. Personally, I had two big chances to score, and I should have scored them.”
