Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik Returns to Rennes Training After Suspension
Rennes — Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik has returned to training with the Rennes squad after being suspended by the club last Friday. The Cameroonian defender had been suspended indefinitely following an altercation with Rennes supporters after a training session last Thursday.
According to reports from L’Equipe, Kana-Biyik will train separately from the professional squad for the remainder of the season. The club also confirmed that he will not participate in reserve team sessions. The incident occurred after Rennes’ disappointing 2-0 defeat to Guingamp in the Coupe de France final, where Kana-Biyik exchanged insults with supporters.
The confrontation escalated when Kana-Biyik attempted to fight members of the Roazhon Celtic Kop (RCK), Rennes’ primary supporters’ group. This took place the day after the club’s 2-1 victory in Paris, which secured their place in Ligue 1 for next season. The altercation occurred in the parking lot as the player was leaving, but he was quickly restrained by security personnel before the situation could worsen.
Kana-Biyik, an experienced international for Cameroon, has been a significant part of Rennes’ defensive line but now faces an uncertain future with the club following this disciplinary issue.
