Olympique de Marseille (OM) has hit a rough patch as they enter the final stretch of the Ligue 1 season, falling short of their initial objectives. Their recent performance has been disappointing, with a string of poor results.
The team suffered a defeat at the Vélodrome against Rennes (0-1) last Saturday, continuing their negative trend. This defeat adds to a series of three previous losses against Paris (0-2), Nice (0-1), and Rennes (0-1), along with a draw against Reims (1-1) from the 27th to the 30th day of the season. This equals OM’s worst series of the season in Ligue 1, with just one point collected in their last four championship matches.
French international Steve Mandanda expressed his perplexity over the team’s struggles. “We are asking ourselves a lot of questions internally to understand the problems. We are aware of the complicated season we are experiencing, of the poor results,” Mandanda stated on the OM website. He further acknowledged the discussions among the players and the search for answers without success.
As a result of their recent setbacks, Marseille currently sits in sixth place, trailing ten points behind third place, which would secure a spot in the Champions League.
