Hervin Ongenda Eyes Loan Move to Bastia Amid PSG Playing Time Concerns
Young Paris Saint-Germain forward Hervin Ongenda has expressed a clear desire to join Bastia on loan for the upcoming season as he seeks more regular first-team football. Despite being under contract with PSG until 2017, the Franco-Congolese striker has informed the club of his wish to move, but Paris Saint-Germain remains hesitant about the arrangement.
The move gained momentum after Claude Makelele, Bastia’s manager and a former PSG player, requested permission from Paris Saint-Germain’s management to initiate talks with Ongenda. Receiving the green light last week, Makelele was encouraged by Ongenda’s firm stance: “I want to go to Bastia and nowhere else,” the young striker reportedly declared.
However, Bastia is not the only club interested in Ongenda’s services. Stade de Reims coach Jean-Luc Vasseur, who has strong ties to PSG’s youth academy where he worked from 2001 to 2011, has also entered the negotiation race. Vasseur has made several attempts to persuade Ongenda to consider Reims as an alternative destination, even hoping that recent troubles involving PSG at the Parc des Princes might sway the player’s decision. Despite these efforts, Ongenda remains committed to a move to Bastia.
The potential loan could mark the beginning of significant changes for PSG’s homegrown talents. Adrien Rabiot, another promising graduate of the Paris youth academy, has reportedly been granted permission by the club to open talks with potential buyers, suggesting he may leave PSG permanently in the near future.
For Ongenda, securing regular playing time is crucial at this stage of his career. With strong competition for places at Paris Saint-Germain, a loan spell at Bastia could offer him valuable experience in Ligue 1, allowing him to develop his game and showcase his potential on a bigger stage.
The negotiations between PSG, Bastia, and the player are ongoing, with fans and analysts keen to see how the situation will unfold. Should the move go through, it could provide a welcome boost to Bastia’s attacking options while giving Ongenda the platform to progress in his professional career.
