Diafra Sakho has been a standout performer in Ligue 2, scoring six goals since the season’s commencement. The 23-year-old Franco-Senegalese striker has caught the attention of Olympique de Marseille, who reportedly scouted him during a match against Lens (2-3, 9th day of Ligue 2) at the end of September.
Diafra Sakho, currently under contract with Metz until 2015, is said to be open to the interest from Olympique de Marseille. The Marseille club is considering him as a potential addition to strengthen their attacking options.
The decision by the Paris administrative court to lift the 9-month suspension imposed on Leonardo, the former sports director of Paris Saint-Germain, has not been well-received by the French Football Federation (FFF). In a press release on its official website, the FFF has announced its intention to appeal the decision to the Council of State. While this appeal may take several months, it does not seem to be a cause for concern for Leonardo.
The FFF stated in its press release, “First of all, the Federation will refer the matter to the Council of State in the coming days. The FFF would then like to point out that Mr. Leonardo is fully capable of engaging with a foreign club since the sanction imposed by the FFF Higher Appeal Commission, because this decision has never been extended to foreign federations. Finally, the FFF specifies that if Mr. Leonardo were to request a license in France, it reserves the right to take into consideration his past behavior before following up on such a request.”
Leonardo had been suspended from exercising official functions until June 30, 2014, by the Higher Commission of Appeal of the FFF. The commission had criticized him for his inappropriate gesture towards the referee during the PSG-Valenciennes match.
