Lierse SK recruit Pierre Dwomoh after Watford exit

Belgian-Ghanaian midfielder Pierre Dwomoh has joined Lierse SK from Watford on a free transfer, returning to Belgium at the age of 22.

Dwomoh has signed a contract with the Challenger Pro League club until 30 June 2028. The central midfielder’s move was completed on 27 August, ending his two-year spell with Watford.

The right-footed player joined the English Championship side from Royal Antwerp in August 2024 for €1m. He had made that move after returning from a loan spell with RWDM, where he spent the 2023-24 season.

Dwomoh began the 2026-27 campaign with Watford but did not make an appearance in either of the club’s opening two recorded matches, in the EFL Cup or Championship, before switching clubs. He now moves into Belgian football with Lierse, whose first-team squad competes in the country’s second tier.

Born in Gent on 21 June 2004, Dwomoh stands 1.88m tall and operates primarily in central midfield. He has represented both Belgium and Ghana in his nationality background.

His senior career began at Genk, having progressed through the club’s youth system after previously spending time with Anderlecht and KV Mechelen. Dwomoh joined Royal Antwerp from Genk in August 2021 for €2m, before later gaining experience through loan moves to Braga B and KV Oostende.

The midfielder’s first loan away from Antwerp took him to Braga B in September 2022. He returned to Antwerp at the end of that calendar year and subsequently joined KV Oostende on loan in January 2023. After another return to Antwerp, he spent the following season with RWDM before moving to Watford.

Dwomoh’s latest transfer brings him back to the Belgian league system after two seasons in England. Lierse have secured his services without a transfer fee, and the club’s agreement with the player runs through the end of June 2028.
