Hellas Verona have secured the signing of Libyan international Moatasem Al-Musrati, bringing him to Serie A on a loan deal from Turkish club Besiktas.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who spent the second half of last season on loan at AS Monaco, joins the Italian side with a purchase option reportedly set at €7 million.
The agreement marks an important step for Verona as they strengthen their midfield ahead of the current Serie A campaign.
Al-Musrati, widely regarded for his composure and defensive stability in midfield, brings a wealth of international and club experience to the Italian outfit.
His move to Verona adds another chapter to a career that has seen him play in multiple European leagues while maintaining a central role in Libya’s national team.
In a statement confirming the transfer, Hellas Verona expressed their delight at the acquisition and extended their best wishes to the player as he begins this new chapter in his career.
“Hellas Verona FC welcomes Moatasem and wishes him a future rich in personal and professional success in the yellow and blue jersey,” the club announced.
Al-Musrati has been a consistent figure in Libyan football over the past decade. From 2014 to 2023, he represented his country with distinction and notably played a pivotal role in Libya’s historic triumph at the 2014 African Nations Championship, where they defeated Ghana on penalties in the final.
His leadership and technical ability have made him a respected figure both domestically and abroad.
Verona’s decision to secure the midfielder highlights their ambition to reinforce their squad with experienced international talent.
Al-Musrati’s physical presence and tactical awareness are expected to provide balance in the team’s midfield structure under their current setup.
The Libyan star’s time at Besiktas was marked by steady performances, and his loan spell at Monaco offered valuable experience in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues. Now, as he takes on a fresh challenge in Italy’s Serie A, expectations are high that he can make an immediate impact.
Al-Musrati’s arrival also adds depth to Verona’s midfield options, giving them a player capable of dictating tempo, breaking up play, and providing stability in crucial moments.
With a €7 million purchase option included in the deal, his performances this season will likely determine whether Verona make the transfer permanent.
The move further cements Al-Musrati’s status as one of Libya’s most prominent football exports, carrying the hopes of fans back home as he continues his career on one of Europe’s most competitive stages.
