Shukri Al-Khatib, the head coach of Libya’s Abu Salim team, commented on his team’s defeat against Zamalek Club in the match that took place on Sunday evening in the current season’s African Confederation Cup 2023-2024.
Zamalek secured a valuable win against their counterpart, Abu Salim, with a score of 2-1 in the match held at the May 19, 1956 Stadium in Annaba, Algeria, as part of the fifth round of matches.
Shukri Al-Khatib stated on Al-Mehwar channel, “We knew that Zamalek is a big team after encountering them in the group stage. The Egyptian team has a great history, and everyone on the continent knows that.”
He continued, “We put up a strong game against a respectable team like Zamalek.
We didn’t hope for that start, and we tried to come back after the second goal, but we didn’t succeed.”
“I congratulate Zamalek on their victory and qualification at the top of the group.
We are playing our matches away from our stadium and land, but thanks to God for what we have achieved,” he added.
He concluded, “Zizou is an outstanding player, and I hope his injury is minor and he returns soon because he is a player with high morals.”
