Liam Rosenior turns to international break for reset after Chelsea slump

Liam Rosenior has acknowledged that the international break may offer Chelsea FC a timely opportunity to reset, following a run of poor results that has stalled their momentum across competitions.

Chelsea head into the break on the back of a damaging defeat to Everton FC, a result that extended their losing streak to four matches in all competitions. The downturn has raised concerns over consistency, particularly after setbacks in both domestic and European fixtures.

Rosenior, however, believes the pause in club football could provide a much-needed mental and physical reset for his squad.

“I think the international break has come at a good time for us,” he said.

With several players departing to represent their national teams, the Chelsea manager suggested that time away from the club environment could help refresh the group and restore focus ahead of a crucial stretch in the season.

“Hopefully, the players get a change. Most of them have to fly across the world and represent their countries, but maybe a reset, maybe some time away to regather their thoughts and have a different lineament and come back, may refresh the group.”

The recent slump has been particularly frustrating given the manner of the defeats. Chelsea’s exit from the Champions League, coupled with consecutive league losses, has disrupted what had previously been a promising campaign.

“It’s a disappointing time at the moment in terms of the way we lost in the Champions League and the way we’ve lost the last two Premier League games.”

Despite the dip in form, Rosenior insists the broader picture remains encouraging. Chelsea are still within touching distance of the top four, underlining the importance of a strong response once the season resumes.

“It hurts, regardless of your position, losing games of football. But in terms of moving forward and having this time.”

“We’re one point away from the Champions League positions, so we need to keep working in this way, keep giving the players as much confidence as possible, and hopefully this break has come at a really good moment.”
