Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl might lock in Leroy Sane for a new deal without the supervisory board’s green light, Bild reports.
Sane, with nine goals this season, has been a vital spark for Bayern, though his contract runs out this summer. Some at the club have doubts about his reliability over the past five years, but Eberl could bypass the usual oversight for contracts exceeding €25m since the limit’s been bumped to €50m.
A three-year extension is being floated, and Sane seems ready to take a pay cut to stay in Munich.
On 3 July 2020, Bayern Munich agreed to sign a five-year deal with Sané for an initial €45 million, with add-ons pushing it toward €60 million.
Sané marked his second Bundesliga debut with a goal in an 8–0 thrashing of ex-club Schalke 04. Now, with Arsenal and Tottenham circling, Eberl’s under pressure to move fast and keep the winger in Bavaria.
