Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool are closely monitoring Leroy Sane’s contract situation after the Bayern Munich winger surprised club officials by changing his agent, potentially complicating ongoing renewal talks.
Sane, who is of Senegalese descent through his father Souleymane Sane, had initially agreed terms on a contract extension with Bayern running through to 2028.
However, the German international has yet to officially sign the agreement and has now altered the dynamics by switching representation from Win11 to high-profile agent Pini Zahavi.
According to Sky Deutschland, negotiations have stalled amid concerns from Sane over a proposed salary reduction.
The 29-year-old is reportedly hesitant to accept a pay cut of €4–6 million per year without receiving a substantial signing bonus in return — a condition now expected to be central to further discussions.
Over the weekend, Sane informed Bayern’s hierarchy of his decision to change agents during a meeting with club directors.
The development has forced a pause in talks and signals that Bayern may need to return to the negotiating table with revised terms.
Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen acknowledged the complexity of the situation in remarks to Abendzeitung, stating: “Leroy is having a good season. Zahavi is an experienced agent, not always easy to negotiate with.
“But that’s just how it is. We’ll see how it goes. Max Eberl is doing an excellent job with Christoph Freund.”
Bayern president Herbert Hainer also expressed cautious optimism.
“I don’t know his motives. We’ve usually almost always reached an agreement with Zahavi. I’m an optimist by nature. Leroy has said often enough that he wants to stay.”
