Leny Yoro handed six month driving ban after speeding in Manchester
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has received a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding in Withington, Manchester.
The 20-year-old was driving his £170,000 Porsche Cayenne GTS at 72mph (112km/h) in a 30mph zone on Mauldeth Road West, a residential area close to homes, a secondary school, and a sports club.
Court documents show he was travelling at nearly two and a half times the speed limit when a roadside camera recorded the offence on 28 August at around 16:00 GMT. Yoro pleaded guilty at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 21 February. He was banned from driving for six months, fined £666, and ordered to pay £120 in costs plus a £266 victim surcharge.
Lawyers acting for the French centre back apologised on his behalf, saying the road was clear and that he had been “rushing to take a friend to the railway station.”
Greater Manchester Police confirmed he was charged with speeding and failing to identify the driver, adding that the ban was imposed because of the excessive speed rather than an accumulation of penalty points.
