A legal source familiar with sports laws has dismissed the possibility of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) granting a freeze on the African Football Confederation (CAF) Cup final proceedings, in response to a request from Algeria’s Union Sportive Médina d’Alger.
This assertion is linked to the same body’s rejection of a request to suspend a decision by the Appeals Committee affiliated with CAF, which deemed the Algerian team defeated in the first leg of the CAF Cup semi-final against Renaissance Berkane.
A source from “Parliament Sport” anticipated that TAS would reject all appeals related to sports penalties due to their lack of solid legal grounds.
Meanwhile, the same source expects TASS to deliver its verdict on the dispute between the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) and CAF regarding the case of Renaissance Berkane’s jersey by the end of this month, following receipt of submissions from the Football Association and CAF.
