Lazio have reopened negotiations with Czech club Viktoria Plzeň over the potential signing of Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Second Attempt to Secure Durosinmi
The Serie A club previously attempted to sign the 22-year-old during last summer’s transfer window but were unable to finalize a deal.
Now, Lazio have reignited their interest, aiming to secure the striker’s services with a four-year contract offer.
A source from MMELL Sports Company, the agency representing Durosinmi, confirmed that discussions are underway.
Viktoria Plzeň, whose contract with the Nigerian international runs until the summer of 2026, is reportedly demanding around €4 million for his transfer.
The Czech club is open to selling but has no intention of letting him leave for free when his contract expires.
Lazio Keen to Seal Deal Quickly
Lazio are eager to finalize negotiations swiftly to fend off competition from other European clubs. Talks between the two sides have progressed, with the Italian outfit keen to complete the deal before the Serie A season concludes.
Lazio are also looking to put forward their contract proposal to the player as soon as possible.
Durosinmi has been in fine form this season, making 10 appearances across the Czech First Division, UEFA Europa League, and the Czech Cup, contributing five goals and an assist.
Since joining Plzeň in the 2022/23 season, he has featured in 44 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing six assists.
Interest from Other European Clubs
Lazio are not the only club monitoring Durosinmi’s situation. German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, as well as English clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, have also been linked with the Lagos-born forward.
Given his growing reputation, Lazio may need to act decisively to secure his signature before rival clubs make their move.
