Lassana Diarra Nears West Ham Move Amid Contract Dispute with Lokomotiv Moscow
Lassana Diarra could soon be making his return to the Premier League, with West Ham United reportedly close to finalising a deal for the French midfielder, according to FootMercato.com.
Diarra, who has been without a club since his controversial departure from Lokomotiv Moscow, is currently training with Sam Allardyce’s West Ham side. While the 29-year-old insists he is a free agent, Lokomotiv claim otherwise, leading to a contractual standoff that has deterred interest from clubs such as Inter Milan and Olympique de Marseille.
The case was escalated to FIFA, and a resolution now appears imminent. Allardyce confirmed the Hammers are in advanced talks with the former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid man. “I don’t know if everything is finalised, but it is very close in any case,” the West Ham manager told reporters.
Diarra’s potential move to Upton Park would mark a return to English football for the first time since his departure from Portsmouth in 2009. If cleared, his arrival would provide the Hammers with valuable experience and depth in midfield as they push for a strong finish to the Premier League campaign.
