Barcelona sporting director Deco has dismissed claims that a recent dinner meeting in Lisbon involved talks about Lamine Yamal’s contract renewal, despite growing speculation surrounding the young star’s future.
Yamal has cemented his place in Hansi Flick’s squad, with his dazzling performances making him a key figure for Barcelona. His agent, Jorge Mendes, previously stated that renewal talks were progressing well and that Yamal would soon commit to a new deal. However, Deco insisted the meeting had nothing to do with contract discussions.
The 17-year-old forward’s current deal runs until 2026, but Barcelona reportedly plans to enhance the terms once he reaches legal adulthood. Rumors suggest the new contract could feature a significant salary bump and a staggering €1 billion release clause, securing his long-term stay until 2030.
