Former England manager Fabio Capello has waved into the comparison of Lamine Yamal to Lionel Messi.
According to him, although Lamine Yamal is a great player with a lot of quality, he is not a genius like Messi or Maradona.
“Lamine Yamal is a great player with a lot of quality, and he can improve. But he’s not a phenomenon. He’s not a genius like Messi or Maradona,” Capello said in a recent interview.
Lamine Yamal represents the Spain national team but is of Moroccan descent.
He has been exceptional for FC Barcelona since making his senior debut. Even at 17 years, he has shown a lot of maturity and is now a key man for not just FC Barcelona but the Spain national team as well.
With excellent displays in both the Spanish La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in the ongoing 2024/25 football season, Lamine Yamal is in the race for the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
