Rafael Lausanne, president of the Spanish Football Federation has spoken highly of youngster Lamine Yamal, saying he has established himself as a great player despite his young age.
Yamal, who has Morocco and Equatorial Guinea roots produced a top-class performance in mid-week, helping Spain to defeat France to reach the finals of the UEFA Nations League.
The teenage sensation scored twice as the La Roja of Spain inflicted a 5-4 win over France to secure a place in the final.
Lausanne has, however, expressed his great admiration for Yamal, stressing that he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or, given his impressive performances for club and country.
“I think it’s clear to everyone, not just because of the two goals he scored, but because of the fantastic performance he had by all standards” he told Spanish channel RTVE
“Every touch from Yamal dazzles everyone. He has established himself as a great player despite his young age. I hope he is awarded the Ballon d’Or, he truly deserves it,” he stressed.
The teenage sensation was recently adjudged as the La Liga Young Player of the Season following his impressive performance.
Yamal racked up 18 goals and provided 25 assists in 55 appearances in the just ended season.
