David Villa believes Lamine Yamal has done more than enough to be in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or.
The Spanish football legend, speaking in a recent interview, shared his admiration for the 17-year-old Barcelona winger.
“He has earned the right to be considered for the Ballon d’Or. There’s still a lot of the season left… But he’ll win it one day for sure,” Villa said.
Villa praised Yamal’s rapid growth at Barcelona, noting not just his skills but also how the team responds to him.
“I think just watching Barça’s game, not only what he transmits when he has the ball but what his teammates transmit,” he said.
Villa recalled a match against Inter where it seemed the entire team looked to Yamal for inspiration.
“That at 17 years old is truly outrageous at a club like Barça,” he noted, calling Yamal’s influence rare.
He urged patience and support as Yamal develops, calling his future “brutal” and full of promise.
Villa’s confidence suggests that Yamal might soon be football’s biggest star.
