Barcelona fans are waiting nervously after young star Lamine Yamal missed training on Saturday and is doubtful for the La Liga game against Valencia at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

The 18-year-old forward has quickly become one of the brightest talents in world football, but ongoing back problems are raising concerns about his fitness.

Prominent journalist Gerard Romero confirmed the latest update, saying, “Lamine is experiencing discomfort, doubtful for tomorrow,” leaving his inclusion in doubt just days after international duty with Spain. Yamal sat out the final training session before the Valencia fixture, and his place in the squad remains uncertain.

The winger has been dealing with back discomfort since the international break, where he played against Bulgaria and Türkiye despite the issue. During Spain’s clash with Bulgaria, Yamal was even substituted after feeling pain. He still managed a full 90 minutes in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, but the problem has lingered.

Barcelona’s staff will now weigh the risk of rushing him back, as supporters hope the setback does not derail his breakthrough season.
