Spanish forward of Moroccan descent, Lamine Yamal, has met with his agent Jorge Mendes to discuss the final details of his contract extension deal with FC Barcelona.
The talented forward is expected to sign a mega deal once he turns 18.
Lamine Yamal, 17, is currently under contract with Barcelona until 2026. In the last few months, the representative of the player and Barcelona officials have been working on a new deal.
As reported earlier today, the player’s camp is pushing for him to become the highest-paid player at the club after his exceptional campaign in the 2024/25 football season.
Today, Jorge Mendes has met with Lamine Yamal to discuss the final details of the contract offered by Barcelona.
Once Yamal is satisfied with the deal, including the monetary terms, Jorge Mendes will meet with Barcelona to finalise everything.
Already, Sporting Director of Barcelona, Deco, has given the indication that the club does not mind giving Yamal more money.
“The extension with Lamine is going well. He deserves the pay rise. A player at this level has to be happy. For me, it doesn’t matter whether he’s 17 or 26 – football has to be fair. He should get the contract he deserves,” he told RAC1.
Deco added, Deco added: “It’s not about being the highest paid. What matters is that he’s happy. And I think there’s no better club for him than Barça.”
