A senior official from LaLiga has praised Morocco’s rapid rise in international football, describing the Atlas Lions as one of the strongest national teams in the world.

Juan Florit, head of the football department at LaLiga, said Morocco’s impressive performances in recent years at both continental and global level have helped the nation establish itself among football’s elite.

Speaking to the Moroccan news agency MAP, Florit highlighted the balance within the Moroccan national team as one of its greatest strengths.

Blend of Youth and Experience Key to Success

According to Florit, Morocco’s squad has benefited from the combination of emerging young talents and experienced players, creating a competitive and well-organised team capable of competing at the highest level.

He also extended his best wishes to the Atlas Lions ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to continue performing strongly on the global stage.

Moroccan Talent Growing in Spanish Football

Florit also pointed to the increasing presence of Moroccan footballers across Spain’s top two divisions, noting that many have become influential players for their respective clubs.

He explained that Moroccan players are now among the most represented foreign nationalities in Spanish football academies after Spanish players themselves, reflecting the strong development of football talent in Morocco.

The LaLiga official added that young Moroccan footballers possess natural ability and tactical intelligence, qualities that help them adapt successfully to the demands of Spanish football.

LaLiga Strengthening Partnership With Morocco

Florit described Morocco as a strategic partner for LaLiga and stressed the Spanish league’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the football systems of both countries.

He highlighted the “Next Gen Draft” initiative organised by LaLiga and EA SPORTS, which this year includes eight promising Moroccan talents, made up of four boys and four girls.

The programme aims to provide young players with professional training opportunities in Spain while exposing them to coaching methods used by leading Spanish clubs.

Focus Already Turning to 2030 World Cup

Looking ahead, Florit said the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, presents a major opportunity for deeper football cooperation between the nations.

He added that the coming years will be important in strengthening ties across both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar and unlocking the full football potential shared by Morocco and Spain.
