Lacina Traoré’s Future Remains Uncertain as Everton Eye Striker for Next Season
Lacina Traoré’s future continues to be the subject of speculation, with the Ivorian striker’s next move still unclear. Signed by Anzhi and subsequently loaned to Everton, Traoré has yet to make an impact at AS Monaco, with his prospects at the Ligue 1 club looking dim for next season.
Although the towering forward played just one game for Everton — scoring a goal — his performances have left a lasting impression on manager Roberto Martínez. Despite Traoré’s injury, Martínez is keen to keep him at Goodison Park, especially as Everton fights for a place in next season’s Champions League. In a recent interview with the Liverpool Echo, Martínez stated, “It depends on our European needs. If we qualify for Europe, then we need four strikers. We need to make sure we start next season with a strong team and, in my opinion, we need four strikers in the squad. Lacina is someone we believe can bring something different to the team. He is someone we want to sit down with to see what the next chapter will be.”
For Traoré, a return to Monaco might not be the best option if he is looking for regular playing time. Reports suggest that Monaco’s management is not prioritizing his return, as the club looks to strengthen its attack with a world-class striker to support Radamel Falcao. With a crowded forward line featuring Germain, Rivière, Ocampos, Martial, and Berbatov, Traoré would face stiff competition for a spot.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Traoré will remain with Everton, return to Monaco, or find a new opportunity elsewhere to secure more playing time.
