Kylian Mbappé’s ongoing legal conflict with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has taken a new turn after the French striker’s request for sanctions against his former club was rejected by the French Football Federation’s (LFP) disciplinary committee. The decision marks a significant blow to Mbappé, who had hoped to secure a substantial payout from PSG after his departure to Real Madrid last summer.
Mbappé, who had a turbulent final season with PSG, has been demanding €55 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses from the club.
Despite his high-profile move to Madrid, the dispute over this sum has remained unresolved, with PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi firmly opposing the payment.
Al-Khelaifi has argued that Mbappé had assured the club no financial losses would occur in the event of his departure on a free transfer, a claim that PSG is determined to uphold.
In recent developments, Mbappé turned to the LFP’s disciplinary committee, hoping to force PSG into compliance by seeking sanctions.
The committee, however, ruled that his case was inadmissible. According to an official statement, the committee explained, “The LFP’s disciplinary regulations give the Disciplinary Committee the power to impose sanctions in the event of non-execution of a decision against which no appeal has been lodged.
The Committee was contacted in this context by Mr. Kylian Mbappé, following the decisions rendered by the Legal Committee and the Joint Appeals Committee.
Paris Saint-Germain, having since summoned the LFP before the Paris Judicial Court with a view to obtaining the annulment of these two decisions, the Disciplinary Committee concluded that the referral made by Mr. Kylian Mbappé was inadmissible.”
The LFP’s decision has been met with satisfaction from PSG, who expressed their relief that no sanctions would be imposed. The club issued a statement, declaring,
“We are very satisfied that the Disciplinary Committee has decided not to sanction Paris Saint-Germain as the player requested. By declaring his request inadmissible, the Disciplinary Committee is putting an end to this sequence that has lasted far too long.”
In addition, PSG expressed disappointment over Mbappé’s refusal to engage in mediation talks through the LFP’s Legal Commission.
The club reiterated its stance, emphasizing that Mbappé had made commitments, both publicly and privately, which they believe he has failed to honor.
“In law and in fact, the player has made clear and repeated public and private commitments that the club simply asks that he honor, after having benefited from unprecedented advantages from the club for 7 years in Paris,” PSG stated.
Despite this setback, PSG reaffirmed its desire for an amicable resolution, stressing that the focus should remain on mutual respect and the values of the club.
“This is a matter of good faith, honesty, maintaining the values and respect of the Parisian institution and its supporters, which goes beyond the importance of any player.”
As the legal battle continues, all eyes will be on Kylian Mbappé, whose dispute with PSG is far from over.
