French-Cameroonian forward Kylian Mbappe has taken full responsibility following Real Madrid’s defeat against Athletic Bilbao in the La Liga.
The former Paris Saint Germain star missed a penalty when the record Champions League holders succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night at the San Mamés Barria.
Athletic Bilbao opened the scoring in the 5rd minute mark through Alex Berenguer before Jude Bellingham level the score in the 78th-minute after Mbappe had wasted a penalty in the 68th-minute.
However, a goal from Gorka Guruzeta in the 80th-minute ensured the home team secure maximum points.
“Bad result. A big mistake in a game where every detail counts. I take full responsibility. It’s a difficult moment, but it’s the best time to change this situation and show who I am.” He wrote on Instagram.
Mbappe has managed 10 goals and provided 1 assists after 20 games since joining Real Madrid.
