Kylian Mbappe six goals away from becoming France’s all-time top scorer
Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe is six goals away from becoming the all-time top scorer of France.
The French forward of Cameroonian descent scored his 52nd goal for his country on Tuesday, September 9, overtaking Thierry Henry by one goal.
Mbappé now sits second on France’s all-time scoring chart and has his sights firmly set on Olivier Giroud’s record of 57. With Giroud retired, the prolific striker has a clear path to the top of the rankings.
France’s all-time top five scorers currently stand as follows: Giroud (57), Mbappé (52), Henry (51), Antoine Griezmann (44), and Michel Platini (44).
Now only 26 years of age, Mbappe looks set to overtake Giroud to become the all-time top scorer for France sooner rather than later.
He will be eager to add to his goals in the October international break when Les Bleus regroup for the next round of games in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
